KATHMANDU – The relic of Lord Gautam Buddha (bodily remains) has been kept on display at the Boudha Guru Lhakhang Gumba in the premises of Boudha stupa.
Advisor of the Ghyang Guthi, Tika Sherpa said the relic which was provided to the Gumba on June 29 by the Sri Lankan Temple of Truth will be kept on display till Sunday from Friday.
Some 10-12 thousand visitors daily were present to see the relic put on display after going round the stupa along with incantation of mantras by religious leaders.It will be kept for three days from 8:00 to 12:00 noon and some 80,000 visitors are expected to see it.
Earlier, the relic was kept at Anandakuti Bihar at Swoyamabhu and only could be observed on Buddha Jayanti Day and commoners had less opportunity to see, therefore, it will be kept for display four times a year.
The remains are the part of the body of Buddha after being burnt in fire. It can be seen in Swoyambhu and Boudha in Nepal so far.RSS
