Pashupati Shumsher Rana appointed RPP chairman

8th JUNE 2014 – In a new twist to the ongoing intra-party disputes, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has appointed Pashupati Shumsher Rana as the party’s new chairman.
Surya Bahadur Thapa resigned from the party’s top post at 1 p.m. clearing the decks for Rana to become the new chairman.
Rana was appointed the new chairman, violating the gentlemen’s agreement reached in the last general convention.
Thapa forged an alliance with Rana to sideline Lokendra Bahadur Chand, another party leader, who had earlier declared himself the party’s new chairman.
A meeting of the party central committee meeting at Chahabil on Sunday appointed Rana to the party’s top post.
Terming the meeting ‘illegal’, the factions led by Chand and Prakash Chandra Lohani boycotted the meeting that appointed Rana as the chairman.
As per the gentlemen’s, Chand should been appointed the new chairman. Thapa, Chand, Rana and Lohani had reached the agreement to run the party on rotational basis.
Out of 103 central committee members, 75 attended the meeting held in party office in Chahabil on Sunday. SETOPATI
