Quake-hit villagers prepare rebuilding plan

KAVRE, JUL 26 – Earthquake-hit people at Thulo Parsel in the district have prepared a resettlement, reconstruction and rehabilitation plan on their own and launched a Take Care of One Village project with financial support from donors.
As we could not wait forever for the government to rebuild our village, we formulated the plan on our own as per our needs, said Salam Singh Tamang, who is leading the project. Italian citizen Enrique Crispi as well as organisations Twelve December and Libri Contro Fucili have committed to help with the project.
The rebuilding plan includes programmes on resettlement, rebuilding, education, income-generation and microfinance. In the first phase, the plan aims to provide corrugated iron sheets to all 691 households in the village. The plan also pledges financial support to families who do not qualify for the government-promised loan at subsidised interest rate of 2 percent.
