The meeting of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party has decided to strongly voice the failure of the government and the difficulties faced by the people in the parliament. The Nepali Congress is the main opposition party in the parliament.
The meeting of the NC parliamentary party held at the Legislature-Parliament, Naya Baneshwar today decided to raise voice on the problems faced by the people rather than government change, lawmaker Mahesh Acharya said.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament has started from Tuesday.
The main opposition party however stated that it was prepared as an alternative to the incumbent government, drawing the conclusion that other parties in the government too were not satisfied with the government’s works as it has not been able to perform as per the aspirations of the people.
It has drawn the attention of the government to carry out the reconstruction works at a war-footing, noting that only a fraction of the amount allocated to the earthquake survivors has been spent and there was every likelihood that the survivors will have to live in tents and temporary shelters in the coming rainy season also.
The meeting also concluded that the government was averse to implementing the constitution after holding talks with the Madhes-centric parties that are currently in agitation.
The main opposition party reiterated that it would highlight this issue strongly in Parliament and would take the initiative towards resolving the problem by holding dialogue with the Madhes-centric parties.
Alleging the government of becoming a mute spectator in the face of the artificial shortage of food stuff and fuel in the country despite long since the border blockade was lifted, the main opposition party strongly demanded the government to check the artificial shortage.
It drew the government’s attention to the fact that the total capital expenditure was only 18 per cent in the nine months of the current fiscal year and the development works were not progressing in an effective manner.
Also drawing the attention of the government towards the drought conditions and the failure to tame the forest fires raging in different places of the country which has resulted in the loss of life and property, the Nepali Congress urged the government to contain the forest fires and provide rightful relief to the affected people.
