Transport entrepreneurs have closed the BP Highway since this morning, giving people planning to go home for Dashain festival a major setback.
As a result, hundreds of passenger vehicles heading towards eastern districts from Kathmadnu and vice versa have been stuck in the midway, leaving passengers stranded.
The transport entrepreneurs said they resorted to the move after the government revoked its decision to grant temporary route permit to operate vehicles following the road accident in Dhading on Tuesday wherein at least 19 people were killed and over a dozen injured.
The road has been blocked by parking vehicles haphazardly.
Purushottam Sharma, who is affiliated with the BP Transport Service Committee, accused the government of trying to jeopardise their business by not implementing its earlier decision to grant temporary route permit.
He demanded that the government should take back the decision. A dozen transport entrepreneurs have thrown their support to the protest. RSS
