Baitadi- At least nine people died have died in a bus accident that occurred at Patan municipality-8, Khodpe of Baitadi District along the Dasharathchand Highway.
The bus heading to Mahendranagar from Ganna of Darchula met with an accident at 10.30 P.M. on Thursday morning.
District Police Office Chief DSP Narayan Prasad Adhikari said the bus fell some 600 meters off the road, causing the accident.
Police said critically injured seven passengers out of 34 injured were referred to Dhangadhi for treatment, while remaining 27 were being treated in Dadeldhura Hospital.
Eight bodies have been retrieved from the accident site while remaining one will be taken out this afternoon as it is stuck in difficult place, police said on Thursday.
Police and locals had rescued the injured from the site immediately after the accident.
Chief District Officer of Baitadi District Adhikari shared that the bodies were being taken to the district hospital for post-mortem.
The reason behind the accident is yet to be ascertained, police said.
The owner of the bus is said to be Birendra Karki of Dogadakedar-7, Khochaleka of Baitadi. He himself was driving the bus when the accident happened. Karki himself has also sustained injuries in the accident. RADIO NEPAL
