Kathmandu, Dec. 10: As concerned authorities have been unable to decide whether or not to hold this year’s Secondary Education Examination (SEE) and grade 12 examination, uncertainty has started surrounding them.
In previous years, all examinees used to submit their examinations forms by this time, but this year the authorities have not yet initiated any process for that, as classes have not been resumed due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The examinations of grade 10 and grade 12 are conducted by the National Examination Board (NEB) of the government as national examinations.
“Classes are not running smoothly across the country because education activities have been halted due to COVID-19 pandemic. So, it can be assumed that this time the examinations cannot be held on time,” said a teacher of a secondary school.
Deepak Sharma, spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), said that they were discussing about the examination module and time for this year and that the Ministry would come up with a solid solution to that problem.
The government had decided not to conduct SEE for 2076 BS batch after the examinations scheduled for M1arch were halted. However, students received the certificate from NEB on the basis of internal evaluation made by the schools.
Soon after the government decided to halt examinations, stakeholders demanded that SEE should be conducted from provincial level or from local level because the school level education would end only after grade 12.
Moreover, grade 12 examinations of 2076 batch has just completed after seven-months delay. The examinations were held in home schools but was conducted by the NEB. Rising Nepal
