Parliamentary Committee Starts Hearing On Proposed Ambassadors

Kathmandu, Dec 6: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee, the Federal Parliament has started parliamentary hearing on the proposed ambassadors to India, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.    
The government proposed Dr Shankar Sharma as ambassador to India, Gyanchandra Acharya to the UK and Shreedhar Khatri to the US and has sent the proposal to the parliament for hearing.    
During the hearing, the proposed ambassadors will present their experience, qualification, efficiency, thoughts and concepts relating to the related job. The parliamentary committee will endorse them for the job once they satisfy the committee.    
The hearing will be concluded today itself, said the Committee President Laxman Lal Karna.    
Earlier in the first meeting of the committee, a discussion was held with one Ujjwal Krishna Shrestha who filed a complaint against the proposed ambassadors questioning inclusiveness in the process.    
Prior to this, a meeting called for hearing the proposal was called off due to the lack of a quorum.    
The posts of ambassador to the three countries have remained vacant since earlier ambassadors Nilambar Acharya, Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada and Lok Darshan Regmi were recalled following the formation of the government led by Sher Bahadur Deuba. RSS
