Kathmandu, Feb. 8: Humla district has now zero case of COVID-19.
According to Prem Bahadur Singh, chief at the Health Service Office, the district became free from COVID-19 with zero active case of the coronavirus.
Around 16 people were infected during the third wave, and all of them recovered while staying in the institutional isolation or home isolation, said Singh.
During the third wave, eight health workers of Simkot Rural Municipality and one officer of the Land Registration Office got infected with the virus.
Similarly, five people of Hildum village and Assistant Chief District Officer got infected with the disease during its third wave. All the infected recovered from the virus after staying at isolation for a week, said Singh.
Although the district is free from COVID-19, many people are suffering from common cold. “We need to widen the scope of test,” he said. The district was similarly COVID-19-free from October last year to mid-January this year.
During the second wave, out of a total of 3,130 tests, 399 had tested positive for the virus.
Among them, three were referred to other districts for treatment. During the second wave, five people had succumbed to the virus.
Meanwhile, the vaccination campaign, which was halted due to heavy rainfall for two consecutive days, has resumed in the district.
With the improvement in weather, the vaccination service has been resumed. The vaccination drive was halted as the recipients failed to show up at the vaccination centres, said Sarita Bohara, senior ANM of district health office. The district has 81 vaccination centres in all seven municipals. Around 200 health workers and health volunteers have been mobilised for the campaign. Rising Nepal
