Jumla, May 3: The security agencies have intensified security arrangement and surveillance targeting the upcoming local level elections slated for May 13.
The district security committee has paid attention to beef up security arrangements so as to check criminal activities.
The committee has also come up with a digital map and is carrying out digital monitoring to control all types of criminal activities and holding local level elections in a fearless and conducive manner.
Chief District Officer (CDO) Bijaya Kumari Prasain informed that a digital map has also been prepared targeting the local poll.
She informed that a digital map has also been prepared by the district security committee for security arrangement by understanding how close and far the places are in terms of geography.
As the local poll is approaching, the security agencies and the District Election Office have briefed political parties and stakeholders about the district security arrangement to hold the election in a fearless manner.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Narendra Chand, there are 102 polling stations in 79 places in Jumla. Of these, 14 polling stations have less than 500 voters.
There were villages where voters had to walk a whole day to reach polling station, he said, adding that the security agencies had prepared a security plan after understanding the situation through on-site monitoring.
Similarly, security agencies have been monitoring the polling stations in the district since a month ago, DSP Chand said.
A team comprising CDO Prasain and senior officials of Nepal Army (NA) and Armed Police Force (APF) has been conducting on-site monitoring for a long time.

Ganapati Rabin Thapa of the Nepal Army Nanda Box Battalion said that the security forces would provide security in coordination with the locals, since holding elections in a clean and fearless manner is the need of all.
The security personnel had been mobilised at the polling stations as per the authority and criteria given by the state.
He said that a digital map has been set up in the district and following the map surveillance has been intensified to see how the security forces are working in the polling stations across the district.
According to him, additional security forces have been mobilised in Dolpa, Humla, Mugu and Kalikot.
Details of all polling stations have been updated using drones. Similarly, the Army said that the bomb disposal team has also reached all the local levels.
Meanwhile, Ganapati Chitrangat Dahal of the Armed Police Force Battalion No. 33 said that the same security plan has been implemented in Jumla for local polls.
He informed that the Armed Police Force is being mobilised according to the requirement.
Similarly, 669 temporary police personnel appointed from Jumla have also been deployed. Tue, 3 May 2022
